This Los Angeles Dodgers squad can potentially be the best team baseball has ever seen after just winning the world series one season ago.

The 1998 New York Yankees remain one of the greatest modern clubs in baseball’s recent memory winning a tremendous 114 games while only losing 48.

This team would also go 11–2 in the playoffs capping it all off with a world series trophy crowning themselves as the kings of baseball.

Fast forward to 2020 and a very talented Los Angeles Dodgers come into the shortened season as the new powerhouse of the MLB.

For over 32 years, the Dodgers had never won a world series trophy.

They were close on a couple of occasions in 2017 and 2018 when they made two world series appearances and lost both of them.

After back to back seasons of not winning the world series, they would go to the playoffs in 2019 and lose to the Washington Nationals in the National League divisional series.

On February 4th of the 2020 offseason, the Dodgers would acquire star outfielder Mookie Betts and make their run at the league’s most coveted prize.

In the shortened 2020 season, the Dodgers won 43 out of the 60 games and made it all the way to the world series.

The Dodgers then went on to win the world series 4–2 against the Tampa Bay Rays securing what has long eluded them for three decades.

During the 2021 MLB offseason, the Dodgers would go on to retain Justin Turner and sign lots of help for their pitching which included the likes of Jimmy Nelson, Tommy Khanle, and the new addition of 2020 NL Cy Young award winner Trevor Bauer.

The move to acquire Trevor Bauer was a big one in terms of the Dodgers effort to repeat as the champions of baseball seeing as though he was crowned as the best pitcher in the National League.

After the Dodgers had made such roster moves, they were immediately favored by most of the league reporters and odds makers to repeat as world champions.

This team looks to be even better assembled than the team that got to the promise land a season ago.

As of writing this opinion piece, the Dodgers are currently sitting at the top of the NL West division and baseball at 13–3 and should be a solid favorite to win their 8th world series title.
